The official location of work for this position is the National Capital Region (NCR) at 550 de la Cité Boulevard, Gatineau, QC. The option to work remotely may be possible. This selection process may also be used to staff other positions that may require an on-site presence. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply, regardless of where they live or work.
The intent of this process is to staff one position on a permanent basis.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff identical or similar positions within Library and Archives Canada using various languages requirements (English or French Essential, Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB) and/or various tenures (Acting, Assignment, Secondment, Deployment, Indeterminate, Specific period) according to the positions being staffed.

EDUCATION :
A Master's degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science from a recognized university, or graduation from a recognized university with a Bachelor's degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science for which another Bachelor's degree was a prerequisite.
EXPERIENCE :
• Experience providing strategic advice and recommendations to management, other cultural heritage institutions and/or to public clients, partners and/or stakeholders ;
• Experience in conducting research and analysis in support of one or more library functions.

ASSET EXPERIENCE :
• Experience in developing, maintaining, implementing and/or experimenting with current and/or emerging library standards, formats, and protocols.
• Experience in cataloguing and/or metadata creation, sharing and management.
• Experience in batch data processing, such as metadata normalization, remediation, transformation and/or enhancement through scripting, programming and/or data manipulation tools (e.g. MarcEdit, OpenRefine etc.)
• Experience providing specialized reference services to clients, according to reference interview protocols.
• Experience participating in the development and implementation of national and international standards for libraries and/or related domains.
• Experience with special collection domains such as music, cartography, rare books, alternative formats etc.
