Assistant Deputy Ministers (ADMs) provide advice and support to the Deputy Minister by recommending and implementing government policies, and planning strategies. They provide leadership and direction to a Sector of the department to ensure the business objectives are achieved. They also contribute to furthering the strategic corporate agenda for the Government of Canada.

Intent of the process

The intent is to identify senior Indigenous executives who are qualified to assume positions as Assistant Deputy Ministers (ADMs) within CIRNAC, Indigenous Services Canada or other departments of the federal public service.

👉 EXPERIENCE:

► Experience in managing significant financial* and complex human resources** matters.

► Significant experience*** in building effective relationships, and collaborating and maintaining partnerships with organizations, such as federal/ provincial/territorial governments and Indigenous governments and organizations.

► Experience in identifying and addressing instances of systemic racism or other forms of discrimination in policies, programs or institutions.

NOTES :

*Significant financial management is exercising financial authorities at the executive level, including direct accountability for a budget.

**Complex human resources matters include leading and being accountable for a broad range of activities related to human resources management.


***Significant experience means the depth and breadth of experience associated with having performed a broad range of activities which are normally acquired over two (2) fiscal years at the senior director, director general level or higher.
