The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers, offering over 70 types of civilian career opportunities. DND's role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. The civilian workforce is an essential part of the Defence Team. The intent of this process is to fill twelve (12) position on an indeterminate (permanent) or term (temporary) basis in Ottawa, Ontario.
As a result of this process, a pool of partially qualified candidates may be created to staff similar positions in various locations with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent).

Education
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in education, linguistics, sociology, psychology, mathematics, physics, home economics or some other specialty relevant to the positions in the classification.
Note: Candidates must always have a university degree. The courses for the specialization do not necessarily have to be part of a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
EX1. Significant and recent* experience teaching adult or high school learners.
EX2. Significant and recent* experience teaching French as a second language OR Significant and recent* experience teaching English as a second language.
EX3. Experience using a variety of teaching methods in a second language environment.
EX4. Experience in developing learning or lesson plans.
EX5. Experience developing teaching materials or learning tools.
*Significant and recent is defined as having a minimum of approximately two (2) years of experience in the last seven (7) years.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
AQ1. Certificate in teaching French as a second language (CELTA, C.A.S.L, PFL2 or equivalent).
AQ2. Certificate in teaching English as a second language (TESOL, TEFL, or equivalent).
AQ3. Experience using technology to deliver training (i.e. online or virtual teaching).
AQ4. Experience teaching French as a Second Language or English as a Second Language to public service employees.
AQ5. Experience creating online content for distance learning.
AQ6. Experience teaching students with learning disabilities or differences.
AQ7. Ability to provide feedback in the context of adult learning.
AQ8. Ability to manage classroom activities and create a positive learning environment.
AQ9. Experience working or volunteering in a mixed military/civilian environment.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willingness and ability to travel to meet clients at their workplace.
