Duties

Project management engineering services for the design, development and construction in areas of the multi-disciplined engineering domains (such as: civil engineering, facilities and architectural, electrical engineering / electronics, telecommunications and system alarm) for the Correctional Service of Canada.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is a key player in public safety. We are responsible for the supervision and reintegration of offenders serving sentences of two years or more. On a typical day, we manage approximately 15,000 offenders placed within our 43 institutions and more than 8,500
offenders under supervision in the community.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
*a degree is defined as a baccalaureate or higher level degree, as established by educational authorities

Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position (some positions may require eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada without regard for the field of specialization).

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience in analysis and design of engineered systems, facilities or equipment maintenance, inspections and technical assistance.
Experience in assessing proposals and projects including the review of engineering drawings, specifications and reports.
Experience in providing recommendations to supervisor or senior colleagues.

Knowledge of applicable regulations which impact on the delivery of engineering services.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a Masters degree in mechanical, electrical or civil engineering

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience working in a correctional environment.
Experience working on infrastructure within the Federal Government.
Experience in the design of projects related to mechanical engineering in one or more of the following areas: heating, cooling, ventilation, fire protection, plumbing systems, maintenance engineering, indoor air quality, noise control, vibration, life safety systems, building automation or commissioning.
Experience in the design of projects related to electrical engineering in one or more of the following areas: load analysis, site distribution, primary and secondary distribution, emergency power systems, lighting or fire alarm systems.
Experience in the review of Fire Protection Systems and application of codes and standards related to Fire Protection.
