Duties

This project involves evaluating the potential for H2 loss to sorption, that is important for 1) assessing potential lost revenue and risk/safety evaluations and 2) estimating drawdown pressures required to release sorbed H2 from various rock surfaces. Key objectives for this activity include advancing our understanding of H2 sorption affinity onto typical samples from various target formations (e.g., deep coals, depleted gas reservoirs, evaporites), and the diffusion rate of H2 release from the surfaces of these rocks. The workflow involves sample selection, preservation, screening, and preparation, routine core/cutting analyses, and high-pressure and high-temperature (HPHT) H2 sorption measurements at dry and moisture-equilibrated conditions.
