Duties

Some of the key duties of this position are:
o Developing operational plans and strategies and managing boating safety programs/activities.
o Developing, managing and directing implementation, and/or revising regional policies, systems and procedures.
o Evaluating and/or developing regional recommendations for changes to national policy.
o Ensuring consistency and uniformity in standards of service and quality of program delivery; analyzing and interpreting of statistical data and guiding employees and Boating Safety Officers.
o Developing and maintaining working relationships with senior officials/representatives of other government departments, Work Groups, Federal and Provincial Police Forces, and other internal/external stakeholders/partners.
o Identifying issues which may have an impact on inter/intra-regional programs, policies or activities.
o Managing human and financial resources for the Regional Office of Boating Safety.

Intent of the process

The current need is to staff one English essential full-time permanent position that may be located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia or in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

A pool of qualified and partially qualified candidates maybe established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures and/or language requirements within Transport Canada.

EDUCATION
ED: A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience in a related field.

Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria will be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
a. Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
b. Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the PM classification.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
EX1: Experience working in collaboration with multiple stakeholders, such as industry associations, general public, governmental and non-governmental organizations.
EX2: Experience supervising employees and building collaborative teams.
EX3: Experience managing a budget.
EX4: Experience developing and delivering formal presentations and addressing stakeholder audiences.
EX5: Experience using Microsoft Office products.
