Work environment

The RCMP “E” Division Headquarters is located in beautiful Surrey, B.C. at 14200 Green Timbers Way. We are situated near the heart of downtown Surrey, near Skytrain and transit. This large headquarters houses several of the integrated operations, senior management and corporate services to support the priorities of the RCMP in British Columbia and the Yukon. “E” Division RCMP provides federal and provincial services throughout the province and policing to all but 12 municipalities. Positions are in the Real Property section of Corporate Management Branch, which includes asset solutions and property management services for the entire portfolio of RCMP buildings and properties in the Pacific Region; ensuring the buildings and properties are provided with utilities, services, timely maintenance, renovations, and repairs. The Section is also responsible for major capital projects such as the construction of new detachments, training facilities and leasing contracts. This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.

Teleworking may be optional on a case by case basis.

Intent of the process

The anticipated intent/result of this process is to staff (on a full time basis) one indeterminate and one term position.

A qualified pool will be established and may be used for future permanent or temporary vacancies (including term, acting, or assignment).

The qualified pool may also be used to staff future permanent or temporary vacancies in similar or lower-level positions.

Employees who are already at the same group and level or equivalent may be considered for deployment.

Education:
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
EE1 *Recent and significant experience working with clients defining needs, assessing risk, providing solutions and making facility-related recommendations.
EE2 *Recent and significant experience working with budgets such as setting forecasts, tracking expenditures and explaining variances in a system or spreadsheet.
EE3 Experience supervising or managing a team, including establishing work objectives and evaluating performance.
EE4 **Recent and significant experience in the management of a diverse Real Property portfolio such as crown owned or lease or residential property.

*Recent and significant experience in EE1 and EE2 is defined as a minimum one full year of experience working in the field of facilities management, real property management or project management within the past 3 year period.
** Recent and significant experience in EE4 is defined as having managed a Real Property portfolio of varying degrees of complexity and type for a minimum of 5 years within the last 7 years.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Availability and willingness to work overtime as required.
Willingness to travel within Canada, including to remote locations accessed by small aircraft or boat.

Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.

Please note that within the context of this selection process, travel costs/expenses will not be reimbursed. Consequently, candidates will be responsible for travel costs.

Random selection may be used to identify which applicants will be assessed or appointed in this appointment process.

If a qualified candidate has been selected and appointed on an indeterminate basis from the established pool, they will be removed from the pool. If a candidate is selected for a specified period (including term, acting, or assignment/secondment) appointment, they will remain in the pool for future offers.
