Duties

STREAM 1 - Senior Program Advisor
The Senior Program Advisor is the team lead responsible for operational management and program delivery pertaining to emergency management training, exercises, support activities or after-action reporting on emergency events, thus contributing to future policy or program development, and operational response to emergency events. Duties include;include providing advice and guidance to both staff and management, project management, conducting research, preparing written reports, briefing materials or training procedures. The candidate will build partnerships and consult with various stakeholders, identify barriers to successful program performance and develop improvements as appropriate. The candidate must independently manage the team, be adaptable to changing environments, have strong project management, leadership, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

STREAM 2 - Lead Planner
The Lead Planner is responsible for developing and assessing the need for the development of prevention, mitigation and response plans before or following the occurrence of events of national concern. He or she may also be responsible for developing contingency plans designed to help effectively respond to a significant future event or situation that may or may not occur.

STREAM 3 - Senior Watch Officer
The Senior Watch Officer (SWO) leads a team of Watch Officers and Operations Clerks in providing timely, round-the-clock briefing information and coordinated support to key national players in the event of national emergencies. The SWO contributes to identifying high risk events that require important coordination across multiple departments and agencies. Working with these partners, the SWO and their team play a key role in providing up to date information to support national-level decision-making and facilitate a coordinate response of federal departments and agencies when the scope of an event has overwhelmed the capabilities of provinces and territories.

Degree equivalency

ASSET EXPERIENCE - All Streams:
- Experience leading a team in an operational or emergency management environment;

- Experience supervising a team;

- Experience as a member of an event or crisis team dealing with a disaster, an event of national interest or security incident;

- Experience leading planning efforts and developing plans for an event, operations or exercises in an emergency management or national security environment;

- Experience in exercise design and/or delivery related to emergency management programs, plans or policies or another related field;

- Experience in program evaluation or after-action reporting related to emergency management programs, plans or policies or another related field;

- Experience in developing training material and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver training, promote common standards, and curriculums related to emergency management programs, plans or policies or another related field; and/or

- Experience in project management which includes managing projects and working with stakeholders to deliver projects relating to emergency management tools and systems or in another related field.
