Assessment accommodation

Duties

• Accomplish work that allows you to use your organizational and leadership skills.
• Work on the development, implementation, and delivery of programs focusing on ACOA and Government of Canada priorities.
• Promote ACOA's programs and activities to the public and business community.
• Provide professional advice, analysis and recommendations on economic and business development issues.
• Represent ACOA at meetings with various key stakeholders.
• Manage a portfolio of accounts.
• Collaborate with other federal departments, provincial and municipal governments, educational institutions, industry associations and other business stakeholders.

As an Economic Development Officer, you will:

Intent of the process

One indeterminate position within the next few months is anticipated to be staff in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador. Only candidates willing to work in the Corner Brook (NL) region will be considered for this position.

A pool of qualified candidates will also be established through this process to staff anticipated vacancies, for identical or similar positions, at Atlantic Canada Opportunity Agency (ACOA) through acting, indeterminate or term appointments in the Newfoundland and Labrador region.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.

*Note: Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CO group on June 21, 2021, who do not possess the education prescribed in the education essential qualification, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They will be accepted as having met the minimum education standard.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
• Analysis, evaluation and recommendation of non-commercial and/or commercial projects for financial support, emphasizing industry development and support where sustainability is important.
• Developing and sustaining collaborative working relationships with stakeholders to advance initiatives or projects.
• Negotiating project agreements/contracts and monitoring progress against agreements throughout the lifecycle of a project.
