Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s Small Craft Harbours Program and Real Property, Environment, Safety and Security Branch are seeking to hire individuals to join their teams of staff dedicated to DFO’s mandate of conservation and sustainable use of Canada’s fisheries resources while continuing to provide safe, effective and environmentally sound marine services that are responsive to the needs of Canadians and their economy for the benefit of current and future generations.
Staff in Small Craft Harbours Program and Real Property, Environment, Safety and Security Branch work closely with their DFO colleagues to perform the following types of work in collaboration with other federal departments, municipal, provincial and territorial governments, and other partner organizations:

• Uphold Canada’s commitment to achieving reconciliation with Indigenous peoples through renewed Nation to Nation relationships based on recognition of rights, respect, co-operation and partnership
• Work in strong teams to successfully deliver DFO’s Programs
• Analyze financial and program delivery-related information and prepare reports, and monitor and report on multiple concurrent projects at various stages of delivery.

A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

►AS-03 only
Significant* experience in maintaining budgets, expenditures, and forecasts.
Significant* experience in analyzing and interpreting financial information to identify key issues and providing advice to management.
Experience using Microsoft Excel, including creating spreadsheets, tables and formulas.

* Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of your engagement in the performance of these duties for a period normally associated with one (1) year of experience.

►AS-04 only
Experience in negotiating agreements and conditions related to leases as a Lessor only.
Experience in reviewing and interpreting legal property documents, legal survey plans, legal descriptions and survey reports.

Experience with reporting on complex and multi-vote budgets for construction projects.

Experience in either the acquisition and/or divestiture of real property or in managing a portfolio of real property holdings; in a government or corporate environment.

Possession of a valid driver’s license or mobility associated with having a driver’s licence.
