Program Management (PM) staff in Small Craft Harbours work closely with their DFO colleagues to perform the following types of work in collaboration with volunteer based not-for-profit groups, Indigenous communities and organizations, other federal departments, municipal, provincial and territorial governments, and other partner organizations:
• Uphold Canada’s commitment to achieving reconciliation with Indigenous peoples through renewed Nation to Nation relationships based on recognition of rights, respect, co-operation and partnership
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with clients, including representatives of the harbour authority community, town councils, and other third party groups
• Project delivery
• Providing support to managers and team members including advice, guidance and recommendations
• Analyzing data and other intelligence pertaining to harbours and harbour authorities
• Coordinating and participating in meetings
• Managing multiple demands which can involve time pressures and tight deadlines
• Traveling via car, plane or ferry to coastal and remote communities as required
Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s Small Craft Harbours program is seeking to hire individuals to join our team of staff dedicated to DFO’s mandate of conservation and sustainable use of Canada’s fisheries resources while continuing to provide safe, effective and environmentally sound marine services that are responsive to the needs of Canadians and their economy for the benefit of current and future generations
A pool of qualified candidates may be created following this process, and used to staff permanent and temporary vacancies, of various tenures, within Fisheries and Oceans Canada in the Ontario Prairie Region which encompasses Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.

Experience providing advice and recommendations (e.g. related to the business affairs for non-profit or community organizations, or for-profit corporations.
Experience in drafting reports authored by the candidate.
Experience in negotiating solutions and resolving issues.
Experience working collaboratively with Indigenous groups, other levels of government, Non-Government Organizations, industry or other stakeholders

Experience in one or more of the following: legal surveying, acquisition, divestiture, real property, or leasing
Experience building and maintaining effective relationship or partnerships with Indigenous communities
Experience planning, managing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects
Experience in project management; developing, administering, and overseeing contracts
Experience in governing non-profit volunteer organizations
Experience in general accounting/ bookkeeping practices and associated reporting requirements

Willingness and ability to travel, including travel to remote locations by various modes of transportation (e.g. small and large aircraft, all terrain vehicles, boats, helicopter, etc.). Travel may be for extended periods, up to 5 days consecutively.
