Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to staff two positions.
- one temporary position of approximately 6 months.
- one temporary position of approximately 2 years.

A pool of (fully or partially) qualified candidates will be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), with various linguistic requirement and for various bilingual linguistic profiles, various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education
E1 - Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in geology, chemistry, physics or some other science relevant to the position.

Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

Experience
EEX1: Experience processing and analyzing scientific data.
EEX2: Experience in programming and software development.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience
AEX1: Experience in processing and analyzing space weather data.
AEX2: Experience in space weather hazard monitoring.
AEX3: Experience in the operation and repair of high frequency radio instruments (e.g., transmitter, receiver, riometer).
AEX4: Experience in maintaining and installing instruments.
AEX5: Experience in the application of ray tracing techniques for modelling high frequency radio wave propagation.
AEX6: Experience in working with absorption models and absorption measurements.
AEX7: Experience in writing software programs and applications in Python.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Conditions of employment (for the temporary positions of approximately 2 years)
Pre employment field work medical.
Willingness and ability to undertake field work travel.
Available to perform standby during off-hours and work on-call on a rotational basis as space weather duty forecaster.
Willing and able to do field work, mostly in remote locations (including extreme North in Canada), for up to 2 months a year in durations up to 3 weeks.
Willing and able to drive field vehicles (including trucks and all-terrain vehicles).
Valid driver’s license.
