This position involves travelling to various remote communication sites in the Atlantic Region of CCG to complete maintenance and repairs to CCG towers and equipment. Communication sites consist of VHF, MF and DGPS systems and have both guyed and self-support towers.
The selection process will be used to staff one indeterminate (full time) position within the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) Atlantic Region, in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. A pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to staff this position, similar positions, or lower level positions on a temporary or permanent basis.

EDUCATION:
• Successful completion of a secondary school diploma (high school)
EXPERIENCE:
• Recent* and significant** experience in the maintenance, installation and inspection of communication towers up to 300ft in height.
*Recent is defined as within the last 3 years
**Significant is defined as at least 6 months experience total
ASSET CERTIFICATION:
• Fall arrest and tower rescue certifications
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in the maintenance of aids to navigation structures
• Experience in the installation of aids to navigation structures
• Experience in the inspection of aids to navigation structures

KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of electrical work methods and radio frequency principles
• Knowledge of standard safety work practices as related to climbing high structures
• Knowledge of pulse charts as related to guy tensioning
• Knowledge of steel structures and fabrication techniques
