The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.

Atlantic Institution
Atlantic Institution is a maximum-security facility located in the rural community of Renous, New Brunswick, 30 kilometres from the city of Miramichi, and 10 kilometres from the Village of Blackville.

Springhill Institution
Springhill Institution is located on the southwestern edge of Springhill, Nova Scotia, approximately 25 kilometres from Amherst, and 95 kilometres from Moncton, New Brunswick.

Intent of the process

Although the immediate intent of this Job Opportunity Advertisement is to staff a position indeterminately, applicants should be aware that a pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements listed in the Language Requirements section.

In addition, this process may be used for various tenures (acting appointments, assignment, deployment, indeterminate, specified period, secondment), various security requirements and conditions of employment.

EDUCATION:

A secondary school diploma.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

- Experience in accounting operations such as auditing, accounts received or accounts payable.
- Experience in using computers and software including a computerized financial system, word processing and spreadsheet programs.

KNOWLEDGE:

- Knowledge of Correctional Services Canada's Mission.
- Knowledge of accounting methods, practices and principles.
- Knowledge of legislation and policies of central agencies related to financial management.
