A Detachment Services Assistant provides administrative and operational support services for police officers and other employees at a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment. This position also provides front counter and telephone assistance, services and information to the general public.
This process will initially be used to staff one position on a temporary basis.
A qualified pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions on a term and/or permanent basis in Eastern Alberta District within the RCMP. The pool could be used to offer acting appointments, assignments, secondments or deployments.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

• Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience*
*Proof of education will be required prior to appointment
• Experience providing services to internal and/or external clients over the phone, in person and/or in writing.
• Experience providing administrative support services including responding to incoming and/or outgoing correspondence, data entry and filing.
• Recent experience** working with Microsoft Word and Excel.
**Recent experience signifies within the last two years.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience maintaining a law enforcement database such as CPIC, PIRS and/or PROS.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Willingness and ability to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
• Willingness and ability to work overtime as required.
• Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation.
• Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s licence or the mobility normally associated with the possession of a valid driver’s licence.
• RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status security clearance.
