The Public Health Agency of Canada's National Microbiology Laboratory (NML) provides scientific expertise and laboratory capacity for infectious disease monitoring, detection, investigation and outbreak response to support national and international public health action. This process will initially be used to staff three (3) indeterminate positions. The result of this selection process will also be to establish a pool of qualified candidates that may be used for future acting, specified period, deployment, assignment, secondment or indeterminate appointments within the Public Health Agency of Canada (1 to 2 additional terms positions are anticipated).
The Public Health Agency of Canada currently follows a hybrid working model. We require employees to report to our offices 2-3 days per week or 8-12 days per month (or more if desired), while ensuring that the needs of people who may require accommodations, are in accordance with the Duty to Accommodate Directive.

Education:
• Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology, or statistics and an acceptable specialization in epidemiology or public health**
**The courses for the specialization do not necessarily have to be part of a degree program, but may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience
• Experience in conducting synthesis research (e.g., systematic reviews and scoping reviews), analysis, and writing summary reports or peer-reviewed publications concerning zoonotic or vector-borne disease public health issues.
• Experience in writing project reports.
• Experience preparing and delivering presentations.
• Experience publishing peer-reviewed papers.
Asset Education
• MSc or PhD degree from a post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, public health, statistics or epidemiology.
Asset Experience
• Significant* experience performing systematic or scoping reviews.
• Experience with quantitative or qualitative risk assessment.
• Experience with infectious disease modelling.
*Significant is defined as at least one year.
