Potential of advanced technologies to improve the nutritional values of products developed from polycultures called Three Sisters.
The candidate will participate in a project funded by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in collaboration with the First Nations of Canada. The project will be carried out in the team of Dr. Fadi Ali, Scientific Researcher at the St-Hyacinthe RDC under the supervision of Ms. Julie Plamondon, Research Assistant.
The main tasks of the student will be to:
1) Process different food matrices with different advanced technologies.
2) Perform certain chemical analyzes on these food matrices.
The student will be responsible to:
1) Carry out experiments according to the identified protocols;
2) Compile data and complete detailed Excel files of each test;
3) Prepare reports describing the final experimental protocol, presenting the results (means) with basic statistical analyses, if necessary; and
4) Compare the data obtained with those available in the literature.
The Saint-Hyacinthe Research and Development Center (CRD) is one of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's 20 research centres. The primary mission of the CRD de Saint-Hyacinthe is to deepen knowledge of food systems through basic and applied research and to promote its transfer to industry. The priorities are the conservation, processing, quality and safety of food. The Saint-Hyacinthe CRD maintains close collaborations with the food industries. Nearly 150 people work there, including researchers, research assistants, industrialists as well as graduate students and interns.

Education:
Currently enrolled or will be enrolled by the date of appointment (September 12, 2022) in a Bachelor’s program in a recognized post-secondary academic institution with specialization in:
• Food science and technology;
• Food engineering;
• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting your application. (Proof of enrollment will be required prior to start date) and must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term.
Experience:
Experience* in food processing processes and technologies.
Experience* in planning and conducting laboratory and/or pilot plant experiments.
Experience* in data treatment and analysis.
*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
English or French
