POSITION LOCATION:
The positions are located in Toronto; however, the successful candidate may work from one of the OSFI offices across Canada (Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, or Vancouver).
As a result of the global pandemic, OSFI employees are currently working from home. The Principal Analyst, Risk Analytics & Innovation Network (RAIN) will play an important role within the Applied Risk Research and Analytics function at OSFI. This position will develop solutions to utilize the large pools of data held within OSFI in order to extract themes, trends, and emerging risks. Leveraging a mix of data engineering and data analytics skills, and in collaboration with partners across the enterprise, the Principal Analyst will:
• Gather and understand data requirements and develop reporting solutions using Power BI reports/dashboards, programming and application of modern analytical techniques such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
• Consult with staff in other units to determine the appropriate approaches for data platforms and participate in the design and implementation of new reporting.
• Collaborate with Technology and Data Management teams to deliver advanced analytics solutions
• Gather, prepare and transform data by creating ETL processes using data engineering tools for regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
• Provide advice and guidance to assigned stakeholders on implementation of analytical and reporting solutions.
• Apply automation and innovation on new and on-going data platforms for BI projects aligned to business or organizational strategies.
• Identify, design and implement process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery and re-designing processes and infrastructure for greater scalability.
• Conduct research and evaluation of new analytical tools and methodologies.
• Manage competing priorities simultaneously and drive projects to completion.
• Provide status updates, presentations, recommendations and respond to enquiries from division management.
The Manager, Risk Analytics & Innovation Network (RAIN) will, in addition to the above,
• Play a leadership role within the Applied Risk Research and Analytics function at OSFI. This will include taking on increased responsibilities to lead projects and staff through initiation to resolution, identifying and resolving constraints and impediments to the successful resolution of risk initiatives, and presenting to senior leadership.
• Manage the intake, planning, and prioritization of requests, working with stakeholders and senior leadership to prioritize, lead and manage each initiative.
• Work to continuously improve the request intake process to ensure the best use of resource time and help to manage stakeholder expectations through regular updates and resolution of competing priorities.
• Assign appropriate tasks to team members when acting as lead.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
• A degree from a post-secondary institution specializing in a quantitative discipline such as computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics or another relevant field OR an acceptable combination of education, experience and/or training.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
• Recent and significant experience working with modern data management and data analytics tools.
• Recent experience in the financial services industry*.
• Recent experience with databases, query authoring, and/or reporting.

*Financial services industry experience is defined as experience working in one or more of the following areas: (a) financial institutions including banks, trust and loan companies, and insurance companies (b) firms dealing with audits or consulting engagements to such institutions (including reinsurance brokers) (c) technology and data companies providing services to financial institutions or linked to the delivery of financial services (d) government departments that directly deal with the supervision and regulation of these institutions (e) First Nation Institutions including: Band operations, trustees or administrators of pension plans, lending institutions or other related areas providing financial services (f) other relevant areas.
