Duties

A Call to the Curious! The RCMP is currently seeking out top talent from across Canada for the civilian criminal investigator (CCI) role within Federal Policing financial crime. This function represents an opportunity like no other where as a civilian with limited peace officer status you will be tasked with a wide range of duties that will allow you to meaningfully protect Canada’s economic integrity.

For instance, as a CCI in Federal Policing you will be able to demonstrate your aptitude for leadership by leading a project team on financial components during major investigations. Similarly, your duties may require you to provide oversight and technical guidance to working level and junior staff.

Has your curiosity been captured yet? Perhaps take into account the ability to directly work on criminal investigations as a civilian given that assignments will require you to conduct investigations while also preparing investigative reports and disclosure. Moreover, you might be required for field operations in police over watch conditions.

In the capacity of a CCI strong abilities in communication will be equally valuable. This is because the role will require you to effectively communicate with professionals and partner agencies in the sphere of the criminal justice system but also outside of it. For example, you will need to establish and maintain contact with other law enforcement organizations domestically and internationally during major investigations. Meanwhile other cases may necessitate court testimony on the evidence collected and the methodologies used to acquire the evidence used in complex financial crime investigations and prosecution.

Importantly, these are only some of the duties which can be expected in the course of your work as a senior CCI at the RCMP. Therefore, to explore an opportunity with Federal Policing - apply today and join 5000+ inquiring minds!

Work environment

Are you looking for a work environment that is unique, ever-changing, and allows you to occasionally get away from your desk? If any of the previous points resonate with you then look no further as the work environment for a civilian criminal investigator (CCI) with the RCMP is unrivaled!

Like many roles in the public sector, working as a civilian criminal investigator will necessitate your presence in an office environment with daily computer use and associated peripherals. However, at other times you may be required to travel locally, nationally and/or internationally. Certain situations may require involvement in field operations such as search and seizure under police over watch while others may demand that you attend court and provide testimony.

Given the unique nature of the work, RCMP’s Federal Policing is seeking dedicated candidates as your work may require working extended hours on short notice or being away from home for extended periods of time. Concurrently, because distinctive circumstances may arise in the course of your duties you will need to be comfortable with the use of personal protective equipment and conscious of the possibility that psychosocial hazards may present themselves during field operations and/or court attendance.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff 8 positions on an indeterminate basis, with various linguistic profiles (English essential, BBB/BBB) and an RCMP Top Secret security clearance.

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP across Canada on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles (English essential, BBB/BBB) and various RCMP security clearances.
