The Data Science team (SICY) is looking for a Data Science Analyst at the EC-04 level to join its dynamic and growing team. Focused on experimentation, teamwork and collaboration, we are recognized for our innovative, data-driven approach in assisting programs who have specialized analytics needs or have specific questions that cannot be answered through traditional analytics. The Data Science Analyst will support the organization’s business lines with insights gained from analyzing internal/external and qualitative/quantitative data sets using data science tools and methodologies. The work requires knowledge of data science and its lifecycle, including data capture, data extraction, warehousing, cleansing, processing, mining, predictive analytics, modeling, reporting, visualization and business intelligence.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
An indeterminate incumbent of a former ES position on June 30, 1967 who became an EC on June 22, 2009, who does not possess the minimum level of education as indicated for Part A above is deemed to meet this minimum educational standard based on his/her education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
1. Significant** experience with data preparation, summarization, analysis, visualization and reporting.
2. Significant** experience with scripting languages such as SQL, Python, R.
3. Recent* experience in the creation and implementation of algorithms and statistical techniques.
4. Recent* experience with text analytics and natural language processing (NLP).
Recent* is defined as experience gained within the last five (5) years.
Significant** is defined as experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of related activities for a period of approximately two (2) years.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience working with Azure analytics services (e.g. Databricks, Cognitive Services, Machine Learning).
2. Experience presenting work solutions (e.g. dashboards, reports) to management (i.e. Deputy Director level or above).
