The Data Science team (SICY) is looking for an experienced Lead Data Scientist at the EC-06 level to join its growing team. Focused on experimentation, teamwork and collaboration, the Data Science team is recognized for its innovative and client-oriented approach in assisting programs that have specialized analytics needs. The Lead Data Scientist will be the branch subject matter expert and thought leadership in predictive and prescriptive analytics. This is a unique opportunity to apply your specialized data science skills and have a pivotal role in delivering new growth opportunities in this specialized space across GAC.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
An indeterminate incumbent of a former ES position on June 30, 1967 who became an EC on June 22, 2009, who does not possess the minimum level of education as indicated for Part A above is deemed to meet this minimum educational standard based on his/her education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
1. Significant** experience performing data exploitation on large volumes of data.
2. Significant** experience applying Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP) or, Natural Language Generation (NLG) to address real-world practical challenges.
3. Experience in several open-source data discovery analysis platforms and languages (e.g., R, RStudio, Python, Jupyter Notebook, SAS, Javascript, Scala, SQL consoles, Hadoop, Spark).
4. Significant** experience in working across multiple deployment environments (cloud, on-premise and hybrid)
Significant** is defined as experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of related activities for a period of approximately three (3) years.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Professional certification or designations such as: Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals or Azure Data Scientist Associate, IBM Data Science Professional Certificate, Google Professional Data Engineer Certification, SAS AI & Machine Learning Professional certificate
1. Experience working with Azure analytics services (e.g. Databricks, Cognitive Services, Machine Learning).
2. Experience using Power BI or other Business Analytics tools.
3. Experience presenting work solutions (e.g. dashboards, reports) to management (i.e. Deputy Director level or above).

1. Knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and methodologies of statistics and mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and Natural Language Generation.

3. Knowledge of web-based application development (e.g., API, application scaling, user-experience (UX) and Graphical User Interface (GUI) best-practices).
