STREAM 1 – ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
As an administrative assistant you may be involved in some or all of the following activities: provide administrative support to the unit manager such as coordinating and scheduling appointments, meetings and teleconferences; preparing agendas and taking meeting minutes; assisting with logistical arrangements for travel/accommodation/meeting facilities; monitoring and providing updates on budget data using databases such as TEAM; preparing and processing a variety of forms; creating and maintaining admin files for the unit; facilitate the procurement of supplies and equipment to meet unit needs utilizing an acquisition card; reconciling invoices to statements; arranging for service and repair of unit equipment; general admin support to all unit personnel.
STREAM 2 – OPERATIONAL SUPPORT
As an operational assistant, in addition to the above duties, you may be responsible for some or all of the following: querying, entering, modifying information in police and other databases; creating and linking records; scanning and uploading documents; conducting quality assurance reviews to correct data; reviewing concluded records; running purge reports; validating data entries to ensure accuracy of police records and correcting entries as required; monitoring and updating court tasks and dispositions using databases such as JOIN, preparing and submitting fingerprint dispositions; transcribing statements/reports/correspondence from audio/video recordings and written notes.

This is an anticipatory staffing process designed to create a pool of qualified candidates for appointments on an indeterminate or term basis within the Federal Policing Serious and Organized Crime branch in Edmonton, Alberta.

EDUCATION
Required for both streams
• Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience*.

EXPERIENCE
Required for both streams
• Experience in the provision of administrative support services including three of the following: data entry, preparing correspondence, ordering office supplies, filing, processing mail, maintenance of office equipment, assisting with logistical arrangements such as travel/accommodation and meeting facilities, providing procurement and fleet management support.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
• Experience providing services to internal and/or external clients via telephone or in person.
Required for stream 2
The above experience, plus the following:
• Experience in providing information management support such as creating and maintaining files, performing data entry and maintenance, querying and retrieving reports from a database.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE
Applicable to both streams
• Experience providing financial support services such as handling and monitoring petty cash funds, verifying supplier invoices, monitoring and maintaining budget data, processing expenditures and journal vouchers.
• Experience using a financial management system such as SAP.
• Experience providing records management services such as indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retaining, archiving and/or destroying data.
• Experience providing administrative support services to management such as coordinating and scheduling appointments, meetings and teleconference; preparing agendas and making meeting minutes; conducting research and preparing reports, returns and correspondence.
• Experience maintaining a law enforcement database such as CPIC, PROS, etc.
• Experience processing and handling classified, confidential or sensitive information.
• Experience transcribing documents from audio/video recordings.
• Possession of a valid class 5 drivers license.

• Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation, including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft, up to and including remote locations.
Required for both streams
• RCMP Top Secret security clearance.
Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP Security Clearance throughout their employment. Positions filled may have security clearance requirements at the following levels: RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status, Secret, or Top Secret. This requires a security/reliability interview and a field investigation in matters of criminal activities, credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.
