Intent of the process

The intent of this process is staff two (2) indeterminate positions. A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff positions for future vacancies of various tenures and various language requirements in Public Services and Procurement Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry, environmental sciences, environmental studies, environmental engineering, biology, ecology, chemistry, earth sciences, physical geography, or other science or applied science directly relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
1. Experience working on contaminated sites projects involving one or more of the following disciplines:
• Phased Environmental Site Assessments
• Environmental Risk Assessments
• Remediation
2. Experience working with stakeholders or contractors or consultants (including sub-contractors) during the execution of environmental projects
3. Experience in the preparation of statements of work or review of proposals

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Education:
1. Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
2. Certificate as a Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist in Canada.
3. Certificate as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Degree equivalency

Experience:
1. Experience in implementing project management principles (for example: schedule development, budget control)
2. Experience working on Phase I, II or III Environmental Site Assessment.
3. Experience working on Human Health or Ecological Risk Assessment.
4. Experience working on remediation projects through design, implementation and close out phases.
5. Experience working with federal, provincial or municipal environmental regulatory agencies, Indigenous Communities or other stakeholders regarding contaminated sites.
6. Experience working on Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) environmental site assessment or risk assessment.
7. Experience working on contaminated sediment assessment or remediation.
8. Experience as Qualified Person (QP) Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) for Record of Site Conditions (RSC) submissions to Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks under O.Reg.153/04 as amended, with proof, dates and site name.
9. Experience as QP Risk Assessment (RA) for RSC submissions to Ontario MECP under O.Reg.153/04 as amended, with proof, dates and site name.

Operational Requirements:
1. Possession of a valid class “G” driver license or equivalent, or personal mobility to the extent normally associated with the possession of a valid driver’s license
2. Able and willing to travel to remote sites, construction work sites, use ladders and/or power lifts to access areas of work for inspection or assessment.
3. Willing and able to work overtime, as required
