Our team has been working remotely since March 2020. While we don’t know what our “office of the future” will look like, we do know that remote work works. That means you don’t need to be in any of our National Capital Region or Regional Offices to be considered for a role on this team. Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff a minimum of one (1) position at the EC-06 group and level and one (1) position at the EC-07 group and level within the Population Health and Primary Care Directorate

A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established to staff similar or identical positions at Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) with various linguistic profiles (English essential, French Essential, Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC) as well as various tenures and security clearances (reliability or secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed.

EDUCATION:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

NOTES:
Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

EXPERIENCE:

EC-06 Stream only:

Significant* experience providing recommendations on policy issues or implications related to health, public health or the health care field to senior management**.

Significant* experience in working collaboratively with internal and external partners.

Experience in analyzing and synthesizing a wide range of information as it pertains to complex health policy issues.

EC-07 Stream only:

Extensive**** experience developing and providing recommendations to senior management** on complex policy issues or implications.

Extensive**** experience developing and maintaining partnerships with internal and external partners.

Experience in monitoring and analyzing an array of health, policy, cultural, socio-economic factors or social determinants of health affecting marginalized or underserved populations.

*Significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of the experience associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities which are normally acquired over a period of two (2) years (this experience can be acquired through more than one position).

**Senior Management is defined as Director Level (or private sector equivalent) and above.

***Project team and work unit would be comprised of employees, students or contractors who reported to you either directly or indirectly for a specific project or on a day-to-day basis.

****Extensive experience refers to the depth and breadth of the experience associated with

Knowledge of policy issues related to the delivery of health care services and programs for Indigenous populations

ASSET-EDUCATION:

Both Streams:

Master’s degree, medical degree, nursing, human nutrition degree in a field related to the position.

Graduate courses in environmental health that supplement existing university credentials.

Degree equivalency

ASSET-EXPERIENCE:

Both streams:

Experience working with provincial/territorial governments.

Experience negotiating agreements with a variety of partners inside or outside government (e.g., other government departments, provinces and territories, Indigenous governments, communities or organizations, international organizations, foreign governments, stakeholders, etc.).

Experience developing and maintaining partnerships with Indigenous governments, communities or organizations.

Experience coordinating the impact assessment of designated projects in collaboration with Impact Assessment Agency of Canada.

Experience leading policy development projects or initiatives.

Experience representing your department or managing interdepartmental or non-governmental committees or working groups

Experience in leading the development of proposal-based documents (such as Memoranda to Cabinet, Treasury Board or other Cabinet Submissions).

Experience speaking or communicating in one or more Metis, Inuit or First Nations language.

ASSET-KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of epidemiology.

Knowledge of Social Determinants of health and their application to drive policy change and service delivery.

OUTLINE OF STEPS DURING THE STAFFING PROCESS:

STEP 1.

STEP2.
Log in to your account and look at the available jobs. You can narrow down your search criteria by categories such as, organization, location, job title and expected salary.

STEP 3.
You can apply to the job(s) that are of interest. You don’t need to complete your entire application at once, however; be sure to save your progress and be mindful of the closing date for the advertisement. Your application must be completed and submitted by the closing date. Even one minute past the closing time, the job will be delisted from the jobs site and you will not be able to apply. STEP 4.

STEP 5.
The next step is the written exam or interview (as applicable). You will receive an explanation of what will be assessed and when to make yourself available. At this time, we may ask you to provide references, proof of citizenship and proof that you meet the educational requirement associated with the position. STEP 6.
Candidates who are successful may be notified that they are placed in a partially or fully qualified pool of candidates. If necessary, we will contact you to arrange language testing depending on the linguistic requirements of the position being staffed.

STEP 7.
A hiring manager may contact you about vacancies as they become available.
