If you need to be accommodated during any phase of the evaluation process, please use the Contact information below to request specialized accommodation. All information received in relation to accommodation will be kept confidential.

Assessment accommodation

When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.

How the process will work:

1. Tell us about yourself by answering the PRE-SCREENING QUESTIONS: The pre-screening questions MUST be completed when applying for this selection process. It is your responsibility as a candidate to answer these questions in detail explaining and substantiating, using the STAR principles - Specific situation (S), Task (T), Actions taken (A) and Results (R)), how you meet each of the essential experience qualifications. Failure to provide this information WILL result in your application being rejected. Résumés may be used as a secondary source to validate the education and the experiences described in candidates’ answers to the pre-screening questions.

2. Your answers to the Text Questions within the TEXT section of your application will be used to evaluate the following essential qualifications: Planning and organizing, Working effectively with others, Client focus and Analytical thinking. Therefore, it's important to complete this section. This phase will be used to assess the Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

3. Those that are found to have met ALL of the Essential Qualifications will be placed into a partially assessed pool of candidates for positions available across the country. Should your name be selected for a position, you will be contacted for an informal interview to ensure we are a good fit for each other. We will then need to confirm your language ability, receive proof of education and then security screening.

4. Assets – Assets are ‘nice to have’ experiences in the Government. We will possibly select a candidate(s) based on what assets they have, so please answer any questions you feel you can demonstrate with an example in the Questionnaire.

5. We will be selecting applications every four months, so please apply. Your application in this inventory will be active for 120 days. A notice that your application is about to expire will be posted to the My jobs menu of your account 21 days before the end of your active period. If you do not take action, your application will no longer be active and therefore no longer considered for this inventory. Should your application become inactive while the process is still open, a notice will be posted to your account indicating that your application has expired; you may select the link Update my Inventory Status to reaffirm your interest.

6. This process may be used for various positions and tenures (including but not limited to term and indeterminate appointments, internal assignments, secondments, deployments, acting appointments) as well as various locations, language requirements and conditions of employment.

7. Due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation, the selected candidate will work remotely from his/her residence location until further notice. When the decision is made for Employment and Social Development Canada employees to return to the workplace, the successful candidates may be expected to work at the hub sites: Edmonton (Alberta), Vancouver (British Columbia), Winnipeg (Manitoba), Moncton (New Brunswick), St. John's (Newfoundland and Labrador), Dartmouth (Nova Scotia), North York (Ontario), Charlottetown (Prince Edward Island), Gatineau (Québec), Montréal Island (Québec), Regina (Saskatchewan).

Please ensure to indicate the region for which you wish to work in the questionnaire.

8. The Federal Public Service is stronger and most effective when we reflect the diversity of the Canadian population we serve. Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) is dedicated to building and promoting a diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce, representative of Canadian Society. All candidates who believe they are qualified are encouraged to apply, including Black, other racialized and Indigenous peoples, women, persons with disabilities and persons of the LGBTQ2+ community.
