Work environment

The Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise (CORE) is an ombud institution with a business and human rights focus, the first of its kind in Canada and the world. Individuals, communities and groups that have been impacted by the overseas operations of Canadian garment, mining and oil/gas companies can submit complaints to the CORE about possible human rights abuses, and the CORE will work with the complainant and the company to resolve issues and will make recommendations to remedy the harms caused.

We have a small but growing Engagement team and we’re looking for a dynamic new Engagement Officer, someone who is passionate about the CORE’s mandate to promote respect for human rights and responsible business conduct. The ideal candidate will embrace opportunities to raise awareness about the CORE’s mandate and complaints mechanism with relevant stakeholders in Canada and overseas. This includes keeping abreast of emerging business and human rights issues and trends, organizing events and managing stakeholder outreach initiatives.

Please note that this position requires a physical presence in the office; part time attendance is required at this time. The operational needs of the CORE do not allow for full-time telework.

Global Affairs Canada (GAC) is committed to advancing equity and embracing diversity and inclusion by implementing meaningful actions that are founded in respect, collaboration and accountability. GAC is committed to ensuring that its workforce both at home and abroad is representative of Canada’s current and evolving population. GAC’s dedication towards advancing equity diversity and inclusion is exemplified through the various efforts and initiatives in place that aim to ensure representation at all levels, provide equitable career opportunities, provides a safe and accessible workplace and to strengthen the inclusivity of the workplace so that all employees have the possibility to be authentic. All candidates who believe they are qualified are encouraged to apply, including Black, other racialized and Indigenous peoples, women, persons with disabilities and persons of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.

We invite you to be part of the change by joining an organization where your voice is heard, valued, respected and amplified. Knowing that diverse teams foster innovation we strongly encourage you to complete the Employment Equity (EE) section in your application.
