π The intent of the process is to fill one (1) position immediately.
A pool of partially qualified candidates will be established from this selection process and may be used to staff positions with various tenures, various linguistic profiles as well as various security clearances within the core public administration with the approval of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard hiring managers.
Depending on the volume of candidates, we may use shortlisting to select candidates for further assessment. The purpose of shortlisting is to identify candidates who best meet the screening criteria for the position to be staffed and reduce the number of candidates who will move on to the next step of the recruitment process. REQUIRED EDUCATION

β Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering.

REQUIRED OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
***************************
β Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

β Recent* experience in respect to the provision of a range of mechanical engineering services related to the design, construction and/or maintenance of mechanical equipment and mechanical systems.
*Recent experience means approximately two (2) years of experience generally acquired in the past five (5) years.

ASSET EXPERIENCE

β Recent and significant* experience in design assessment of marine systems.
β Recent and significant* experience in the operation of marine equipment and systems.
β Recent* experience applying Canadian and International rules and regulations pertaining to the design, construction and/or maintenance of ships equipment and ship systems.

βHOW DOES THIS HIRING PROCESS WORK?
1. Online Application
You will need to answer the Screening Questions. You will need to demonstrate how you meet every criteria in the Essential Qualifications listed above in your online application. Do not forget to provide concrete examples of your work experience.
2. Online Exam
Should your application be retained following stage 1, you will be invited to complete an online exam.
3. Interview
Should you be successful with the exam, you will be invited to an interview conducted through videoconference.
4. Reference Check
We will ask you to provide two (2) references if you are successful at the interview stage.
5. Pool Establishment
If successful at all stages, you will be placed on the list of partially-qualified candidates and referred to hiring managers. Candidates may be required to meet asset qualifications for selection purposes and depending on the requirements of the position being staffed.
