The Office of the Federal Ombudsman for Victims of Crime (OFOVC) works to empower victims of crime, and to ensure that the federal government meets its commitments to victims of crime.
We are currently looking for a bilingual Team Lead to head the complaints review team. This team helps victims by answering their questions about victims’ rights under federal law and responding to issues and complaints directly from victims about federal government departments, agencies, laws or policies. Other responsibilities include drafting recommendations to federal government departments, reporting on client cases, as well as implementing a new case management tool.

The immediate need is to staff one (1) bilingual imperative CBC/CBC position on an indeterminate basis.
A partially or fully assessed pool may be established to staff similar positions within the Department of Justice with various tenures, various linguistic profiles (bilingual imperative only), various operational requirements and/or various conditions of employment.

EDUCATION
ED1 - A diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution OR an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
EX1 - Significant* experience in analyzing information and providing strategic recommendations to senior management** on matters of regulatory or legislative compliance.
EX2 - Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with internal or external stakeholders;
EX3 - Experience managing projects, including establishing timelines, meeting deliverables, and tracking progress.
* Significant experience is defined as experience gained through the full time performance of duties for a period of approximately 3 years.
** Senior management is defined as the Director level (EX-01) and above or executives in private or public sector organizations external to the Federal Public Service.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
OP1 - Willingness and ability to occasionally travel to attend meetings or conferences.

AEX2 - Experience working with the criminal justice system.
AEX3 - Experience working in victim services.
AEX4 - Experience working in the field of social work.
AEX5 - Experience in human resource management.
AEX6 - Experience drafting briefing materials for senior management***.
