Provision of technical services related to housing, facilities and realty assets within a Housing Services Centre (HSC) including contract and project management; quality control; technical inspections; preventive maintenance inspections; resolution of technical problems; as well as the provision of front-line customer support to occupants.
As a Special Operating Agency reporting to the Department of National Defence (DND), CFHA contributes to the quality of life of CAF members and their families through the provision of housing services, and through the responsible and sustainable management of the Department’s housing infrastructure. We are a team of 330 federal public servants who work hard to meet the needs of the Canadian Armed Forces families living in DND housing. We have close to 220 employees at our Housing Services Centres across Canada and 110 employees at our Head Office in Ottawa.
The immediate need is to staff a French essential position on an indeterminate basis. A pool will be established for future indeterminate or term staffing at the Valcartier Housing Services Center, with french essential and bilingual imperative BBB/BBB linguistic profiles.

EDUCATION:
• A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.
The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
• A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in one of the following:
• Renovation of residential single-family, semi-detached or row housing units.
OR
• Conducting inspections and determining maintenance requirements of residential housing.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Willing and able to travel.
• There is a requirement to limit vacation between the months of May and September.
• Willing and able to meet the occasional requirement to work in confined areas such as crawl spaces or at heights such as second storey roofs.

KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of contracting procedures.
• Knowledge of cost estimating and expenditure/cost control techniques.
ABILITY:
• Ability to read and interpret codes, standards, specifications, drawings and other technical documents and materials used in residential construction and renovations.
• Proficiency in the use of software such as Microsoft Excel, Word or Outlook.

ASSET CERTIFICATION:
• Possession of a valid journeyman's certificate in a residential building trade or certification as an engineering technologist or technician.
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
• A minimum of one year experience conducting inspections and determining maintenance requirements of residential housing.
• Equivalent of 5 years experience as a journeyman in a construction domain.
• Experience in Project Management.

• A valid, unrestricted driver’s licence holding a qualification (class) equivalent to the DND vehicle to be driven/operated;
• Eligibility and willingness to obtain the DND 404 military driver's licence
