Duties

🌳 PC-02 – In this role you will be gathering information, reviewing and providing analysis of scientific, technical or policy information related to environmental matters. You will be providing scientific, strategic and technical advice and solutions on environmental issues. You will also be assisting in the coordination of programs or projects related to environmental impact assessment and environmental regulatory compliance.

🌳 PC-03 – In this role you will be coordinating or leading programs or projects related to environmental impact assessment and environmental regulatory compliance. You will also be providing scientific, strategic and technical advice to senior managers on environmental issues.

Intent of the process

The objective of this process is to staff 3 indeterminate PC-02 positions and 3 indeterminate PC-03 positions.

A pool of partially qualified or qualified candidates may be established for temporary and permanent position with various security levels, language profile and locations.

EDUCATION:

◾ Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in biology, environmental sciences or some other science relevant to the position.

EXPERIENCE:

For PC-02 only:
◾ Experience* implementing environmental initiatives, programs, projects, policies, directives or standard operating procedures.
◾ Experience* preparing written reports or briefings with analysis, advice and recommendations on environmental topics.

For PC-03 only:
◾ Significant** experience leading the implementation of complex*** environmental initiatives, programs, projects, policies, directives or standard operating procedures.
◾ Significant** experience preparing written reports or briefings with analysis, advice and recommendations on complex*** environmental topics to senior management.

* Experience refers to the depth and breadth of experience associated with the performance of a range of related activities. It will be assessed on the basis of the scope, complexity and the diversity of the work performed as well as the autonomy required of the candidate to perform the activities. This level of experience is normally achieved through the performance of relevant duties for a period of at least one (1) year.

**Significant refers to the depth and breadth of experience associated with the performance of a range of related activities in a leadership role. It will be assessed on the basis of the scope, complexity and the diversity of the work performed as well as the autonomy required of the candidate to perform the activities. This level of experience is normally achieved through the performance of relevant duties for a period of at least two (2) years.

***Complex refers to the depth and breadth of experience associated with files involving intersection subject areas, multiple stakeholders, and having multiple deliverables. Stakeholders will be from different domains of expertise and have diverging priorities.

ASSET EXPERIENCE:

◾ Experience in the conduct and review of natural resource inventories or species at risk surveys and environmental assessments.
◾ Experience in developing and implementing policies or procedures for the protection of species at risk, management of natural resources and conduct of environmental assessments.
◾ Experience implementing initiatives, programs or projects related to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (2012), the Impact Assessment Act of Canada (2019) or equivalent provincial environmental protection acts and regulations.
◾ Experience implementing environmental initiatives, programs or projects that include requirements in the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, the Impact Assessment Act of Canada, the Species at Risk Act, their regulations and/or equivalent provincial environmental acts and regulations.
◾ Experience working or volunteering in a mixed civilian and military environment.
