The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) National Intelligence offers a wide range of challenges and opportunities. We are looking for career-driven, highly motivated professionals to work on national and international-level threat files in partnership with domestic and foreign agencies within the law enforcement security and intelligence community.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff four (4) positions on an indeterminate basis, with various linguistic profiles (English Essential, Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB and CBC/CBC) and an RCMP Top Secret security clearance.

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization* in economics, sociology or statistics.

*Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization do not necessarily have to be part of a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

If you do not have a degree in one of these specializations, clearly list the relevant courses you have taken or the experience that is related. Experience will be evaluated in terms of the amount, complexity and diversity of work performed, and level of responsibility for a wide variety of projects demonstrated.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience* in conducting intelligence analysis and producing written reports making recommendations for decision makers, evaluating and analyzing information to provide recommendations for decision makers.

Significant** experience in applying analytical techniques to advance a file or project in a national security, intelligence or operational environment.

Experience* in preparing and presenting briefing material for decision-makers to advance a file or project in a national security, intelligence or operational environment.

Significant** experience in building and managing collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, such as law enforcement or intelligence agencies, government agencies/departments, academic communities, or the private sector.

*Experience is defined as a minimum of two (2) years experience within the last five (5) years.

**Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience that would normally have been gained performing the duties for a minimum of three (3) years.

Conditions of employment

RCMP Top Secret Security Clearance
All applicants for positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be subject to a thorough security clearance process which includes an interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), reference checks, previous employment, on-line activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use. Successful candidates will require a valid Top Secret RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment.
To be eligible for a Top Secret clearance, you must:
• Be a Canadian citizen;
• Have 10 years of recent and verifiable information;
• Demonstrate suitability and reliability throughout the assessment process; and,
• Not participate in illegal activities.

Willingness and ability to work overtime as and when required and on short notice.
Willingness and ability to travel domestically/internationally to attend training/work away from home, as necessary.
Willingness and ability to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
Willingness and ability to complete the Intelligence Analyst Understudy Training Program (some positions).
Willingness and ability to testify in court.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
