The Incident Management Department is divided into 4 areas

2) Search and Rescue

Here is a little more detail on the duties of the Senior Response and Program Officer positions for each of these areas.

🚢 ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSE (ER)
Senior Environmental Response Program Officers carry out environmental response duties in the marine environment as part of the Canadian Coast Guard’s federal mandate. This includes environmental emergency management activities and response activities in the field, preparedness and readiness activities, multipartner’s projects management and carrying out administrative duties including human resource and financial management. In addition the Environmental Response, Senior Response Officers (ER SRO) provide supervision for Environmental Response specialists, assume regulatory authority on the part of the Crown for environmental response in the marine environment and complete reports and assessments.

🚢 SEARCH AND RESCUE (SAR)
Senior Search and Rescue Program Officers perform emergency Search and Rescue training, liaison, exercising and support to response duties in the marine environment as part of the Canadian Coast Guard's federal mandate. This primarily includes maintening equipment, vessels and vehicles and carrying out administrative duties at the headquarters area including human resource and financial management. In addition to their SAR activities, these officers provide supervision to the SAR program officers and produce reports and conduct evaluations. They may also be called upon to respond to SAR and emergency response activities when operating in the field.

🚢 VESSELS OF CONCERN (VOC)
Senior Vessels of Concern Program Officers support the Superintendent, Vessels of Concern (VOC) with inspecting such vessels in their region, inputting vessel information into the VOC database, liaising with other Government departments to identify and quantify risk factors, conducting analysis to determine the level of risk that each vessel presents, issuing Administrative Monetary Penalties (AMPS), and preparing cases to be presented to an appeals tribunal.

🚢 CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT (CI)
Senior Continuous Improvement Program Officer as a role in regional readiness to respond to incidents. He/she contributes to the advancement of knowledge and understanding of Incident Command Service (ICS) by supporting the delivery of ICS training (tracking of trainees), exercises, workshops, working groups, etc. He/she will act as a mentor or instructor who will share his/her knowledge as required, and may be required to become a qualified ICS Canada instructor. He/she will also support the development of incident management tools, such as contributing to the development of contingency plans, methodologies, or compiling lists of qualified personnel to assume roles in an ICS structure in the event of an incident. He/she will also maintain good relations with emergency management partners and participate in interdepartmental initiatives.

The purpose of this inventory is to create a pool of prequalified candidates that will be used to fill Senior intervention and program officer within the Incident Management Directorate.

The current requirement is to fill Senior Program Officer positions in the Vessels of Concern area in Montreal.
