Join the Canadian Health Measures (CHMS) Mobile Examination Centre (MEC) team! If you have an adventurous spirit and enjoy travel, this is the position for you. During collection, you will be on continuous travel status returning home during scheduled time off. The Canadian Health Measures Survey Mobile Examination Centre moves to a new Canadian city every six weeks when in collection and you will be travelling continuously across Canada to include Montreal, Halifax, Edmonton, Prince George, Calgary, Abbotsford amongst numerous other locations. We are seeking people that are comfortable constantly traveling for upwards of two years (excluding scheduled time off). Travel accommodations, transportation, and per diems are included, under the National Joint Council travel directive, for further information regarding this please consult the NJC website.

Duties

DUTIES

Plans and supervises the work of technical staff in the conduct of the physical measures testing; develops work plans; assigns and coordinates the work of the field team; provides technical leadership and guidance to field staff; evaluates performance; and administers and manages allocated financial and materiel resources of the mobile examination centre.

Plans, organizes and oversees the daily operations of the clinic including security, shipping & receiving, inventory control, waste disposal; modification and application of processes, procedures, and techniques.

Assesses the physical measures processes and procedures and provides recommendations to improve procedures and processes.

Liaises with external partners at the clinic location including, health region officials, local dignitaries, media, visitors to the clinic, survey respondents and internal (STC) project team members leaders at head office.

Provides interpretation, instruction and ensures compliance of quality control and data security measures, policies and procedures and health and safety guidelines, processes and procedures within the clinic and by all team members.

Maintains a close rapport with representatives of the media, provides tours of the clinic facility, meets with local dignitaries and represents the CHMS team through explanation, and providing information products for local and national audiences.

Works closely with interview team to ensure a seamless operation between information flow and scheduling of respondents’ appointments for both the home interviews and clinic visits. Ensures appropriate procedures are being maintained for data entry, data verification and data transfer.
Participates in the development of procedure manuals, training material and communication material, and organizes and presents staff training sessions.

Ensures appropriate physical measures protocols are being employed and documents adverse events that occur within the clinic environment and takes corrective action as required.

Organizational Needs:

1) Maintenance of a Transport of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification for class 6.2 provided by Statistics Canada.
2) Maintenance of a WHMIS certification provided by Statistics Canada.
3) Maintenance of a valid First Aid certification including CPR-C and AED provided by Statistics Canada.

Conditions of employment

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

1) Reliability Status security clearance.
2) May be required to work on continuous travel status during collection. The Canadian Health Measures Survey Mobile Examination Centre moves to a new location somewhere in Canada every six weeks.
3) Must be willing to work shifts (evenings, weekends), statutory holidays, and overtime based on operational needs.
4) Must possess a valid Canadian driver’s license.
