Work with a team of action-oriented staff who strive to improve the daily lives of Northerners. This is accomplished by leading projects, gathering information, conducting community visits and providing advice to national working groups and senior management. Promotes and ensures compliance with legislation; and makes recommendations to resolve complex program and policy issues.
Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs (CIRNAC) work collaboratively with partners to improve access to high-quality services for First Nations, Inuit and Métis. Our vision is to support and empower Indigenous peoples to independently deliver services and address the socioeconomic conditions in their communities.
The purpose of this process is to staff one (1) position on a full-time basis in Yellowknife, NT.
It may also be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (deployment, assignment, secondment, acting, term or Indeterminate) within Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) in Yellowknife with various security requirements (reliability or secret).
By default, and in the interest of the greater public service, pools created as a result of staffing processes at CIRNAC will be shared with other government departments in Yellowknife

EDUCATION:
- A secondary school diploma or a Public Service Commission approved alternative.
- Degree equivalency
EXPERIENCE:
- EX-1 Significant* experience in developing recommendations and providing strategic advice to executives**.
- EX-2 Significant* experience leading teams in the implementation of a complex*** project, program or a strategy (such as economic development initiatives, community engagement, legislative or regulatory measures etc.).
- EX-3 Experience facilitating effective working relationships with internal teams or inter/intra governmental representatives.
- EX-4 Experience managing people**** (direct supervision, performance management, and setting work objectives).
- EX-5 Experience managing financial resources (including forecasting and budgeting).
* Significant is defined as a period of no less than 2 years within the last 5 years, which has depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with the full-time performance of related duties.

*** Complex is understood to have a combination of these factors: multidimensional, sensitive, confidential, affecting many partners or stakeholders, precedent setting or having a major impact on outcomes.

- Experience with Indigenous or northern affairs related programs or policies or providing advice related to Indigenous consultations (e.g., supporting land claim or self-government agreements or negotiations).
- Experience creating alliances with Indigenous groups and stakeholders to help promote mutually beneficial opportunities and results.
- Experience leveraging external partnerships to advance an organization’s mandate.
- Experience providing corporate support to an Executive** position (such as developing business or work plans, developing management agendas and implementing priorities that create a safe and secure workplace).
- Experience planning events or hosting government dignitaries.

Secret security clearance - The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
