Canada continues to navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the country’s largest employer, the Government of Canada is committed to playing a leadership role by further protecting the health and safety of public servants and the communities where they live and work across Canada. Vaccination is the most effective tool to reduce the risk of COVID-19 for Canadians and protect the broader public health. As of October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada requires public servants to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Accommodation requests will be assessed on a case-by case basis and will be limited to employees who are unable to be vaccinated due to a certified medical contraindication, religion or any other prohibited ground of discrimination as defined in the Canadian Human Rights Act (CHRA).

Work environment

Did you know that ESDC has been, for the past three years, one of Canada’s top employers?
ESDC continues to strive to hire and motivate employees to contribute and be part of its success.

For its part, the Corporate Secretariat contributes to the success of ESDC by providing quality services, advices, and support to the ministers.

**Please note that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, our employees are currently teleworking full time.**
Once the situation has normalized, the Corporate Secretariat will continue to promote telework, on both a regular and ad hoc basis.

Knowing that diversity is a key element to success, we promote a culture of inclusion in which the diversity of individuals and of ideas are encouraged within a work environment in which employees have the possibility to be authentic and where various approaches are sought and valued.
