Duties

In collaboration with management, unions and employees, implements and coordinates the departmental occupational health and safety program. The program aims to prevent accidents and occupational illnesses through: education; program evaluation and investigations; providing advice and making recommendations; manages and monitors injury/illness compensation/claim processes; and ensures compliance by implementing departmental policies and procedures tailored to ensure Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC) is in compliance with Federal Legislative Occupational Health and Safety, Regulations and administrative procedures

Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this selection process is to staff one (1) indeterminate, unilingual French, position.

A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar or identical positions with different tenures, various linguistic profiles and security clearance within Public Services and Procurement Canada.

The incumbent will work in the building occupied by the Receiver General Imaging and Operations Branch team located in Matane, near the majestic St. Lawrence River.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
- Post-secondary school diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or human resources or industrial relations or an acceptable combination of studies, training and/or experience relevant to Occupational Health and Safety

Degree equivalency

Experience:
- Significant and recent* experience administering an occupational health and safety program in an operational environment.
- Significant and recent* experience in providing advice and guidance to various stakeholders with respect to the occupational health and safety legislation, regulations or standards.

*Recent and significant experience is defined as approximately three (3) years of experience in the last five (5) years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience:
- Experience in conducting occupational health and safety inspections, investigations, analysis of results and recommending corrective actions.
- Experience performing ergonomic assessments

Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the Canada Labour Code Part Il and related regulations governing federal jurisdiction workplaces.
- Knowledge of the principles of prevention in occupational health and safety, including Accident Investigation Practices.
- Knowledge of workplace injury/illness compensation/claim processes.

Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to analyze and interpret information, and make recommendations.
- Ability to deliver training or information sessions
