Intent of the process

A pool of partially qualified candidates will be established from this selection process and may be used to staff positions with various tenures, various linguistic profiles as well as various security clearances within the core public administration with the approval of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard hiring managers.

Depending on the volume of candidates, we may use shortlisting to select candidates for further assessment. The purpose of shortlisting is to identify candidates who best meet the screening criteria for the position to be staffed and reduce the number of candidates who will move on to the next step of the recruitment process. Therefore, please ensure that your resume is up to date and includes relevant experience.

EDUCATION

A degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution.

*The term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.

• Recent* and significant** experience in managing a team which includes setting objectives and monitoring performance.
• Recent* and significant** experience in preparing written materials (such as reports, presentations or briefing notes) for senior management*** and presenting to senior management***.
• Recent* and significant** experience analysing issues and providing strategic recommendations to senior management***.
• Recent* and significant** experience leading and implementing projects or programs.

* Recent is defined as within the past seven (7) years

** Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task, which are acquired on a full-time basis for over a two (2) years period.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service. As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status.
