Duties

Are you passionate about Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)? Public Services and Procurement Canada and Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada is looking to fill Informal Conflict Management Practitioner positions.

As a third neutral party conflict resolution practitioner you will:
• Provide a wide range of conflict management services including coaching, facilitated conversations / mediation, group interventions, in both official languages, namely for a variety of issues relating to : respect and civility in the workplace, interpersonal conflicts, various organizational challenges and restoring the workplace after a harassment complaint.
• Provide advice to management and employees with regards to conflict prevention and management concepts.
• Design and deliver awareness sessions and workshops on topic related to informal conflict prevention and management.
• Develop initiatives and tools to promote informal conflict prevention and management.

Intent of the process

This selection process is intended to establish a pool of qualified candidates to fill a variety of current and future Informal Management Conflict Practitioner positions. This pool will primarily be used to staff positions located in Gatineau and in Ottawa and may be accessible within the Public Service.

* On a case-by-case basis, a telework arrangement could be considered from any location in Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐐𝐔𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒

EDUCATION:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, that is comparable to a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization relevant to the work to be performed.

AND

• 160 hours of acceptable training in conflict management which must include 75 hours of mediation training.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience* in providing advice to management and employees with regards to conflict prevention and management concepts.
• Experience* in offering conflict management coaching or professional coaching.
• Experience* in conducting mediation or facilitated conversation processes.
• Experience* in conducting group facilitations or conducting interventions with groups in conflict.
• Experience* in delivering training sessions to employees or to management.

*Experience is defined as experience associated with having performed a range of related activities acquired over a period of two years.

EDUCATION:
• Master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), conflict management, counselling, psychology, industrial psychology or social work.
• Coaching training recognized by the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
• Training in diversity and inclusion.

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience interpreting legislation and federal public service policies.
• Experience in organizational development processes.
• Experience conducting processes for restoring the workplace following a harassment complaint.
• Experience in developing training sessions for employees or to management.
• Experience working in an Ombud office.
• Experience working with initiatives to increase diversity and inclusion.
