EDUCATION
Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution AND significant experience relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience in the development or delivery of a national or provincial OHS program that has a departmental/organization wide impact.
- Significant* experience establishing OSH and/or Security partnerships or collaborative networks with colleagues within departments, central agencies, government departments or various stakeholders.
- Significant* experience providing strategic advice and guidance to senior** officials.
- Experience managing human*** and financial**** resources.
* Significant experience is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities which could normally be acquired over a period of approximately three (3) years.
** Senior official is understood as Director level or above.
*** Human Resources: is defined as supervision of staff including assigning work, managing and assessing performance, developing and implemented training and staffing plans. Applicants must also indicate the number of employees they supervised directly.
**** Financial Resources: is defined as management and accountability for a budget, including responsibility for financial planning, forecasting and reporting. Applicants must also indicate the size of the budget they managed directly.
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
- Experience providing strategic advice and recommendations to managers on sensitive issues related to OHS.
- Significant * experience in overseeing investigations related to OHS.
- Experience in defining strategic orientations of a federal agency in terms of security.
- Significant* experience managing physical security and personnel security screening in the Federal Government such as but not limited to: conducting investigations and recommending the appropriate course of action; emergency preparedness, response and management as well as managing a team of security personnel.
- Experience managing a realty program for a real property organization
- Experience in the application of Real Property Management, Principles, Technical and Practices.
- Experience managing the operation and maintenance activities for assets within a real property organization.
* Significant experience is defined as experience associated with having performed a broad range of related activities which could normally be acquired over a period of approximately three (3) years.

KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of OHS legislations and policy framework including applicable directives, standards and guidelines, and their related federal, provincial, and municipal regulations and policies.
- Knowledge of investigation protocols.
- Knowledge of principles and application of risk management in assessing organizational security requirements and understanding of the principles of risk and threat analysis.
ABILITIES:
- Ability to synthesize multiple sources of information or summarize complex problems; and present the subject in a concise and practical written or oral briefing.
- Ability to interpret applicable environmental, health and safety legislation, relevant standards or accepted best practices; and to adapt them into a specific environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in an environment of variable deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
