Natural Resources Canada's Canadian Forest Service (CFS) is a science-based organization that provides scientific and policy expertise and advice on forest and forest sector issues at the regional, national and international levels. One of its main mandates is to conduct scientific research on Canada's forests. CFS scientists provide expertise on topics such as wildland fire, forest pests, forest inventory monitoring, climate change, integrated resource management, sustainable forest management, restoration, industry innovation and more. CFS is also playing a key role in the transformation of the forest sector towards a future based on innovation and the bioeconomy.

Education:
Graduate student at the PhD level in a recognized post-secondary institution in a forestry, environmental sciences or social sciences department.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Experience in conducting qualitative social sciences research.
• Experience in research related to forest or forestry in Québec.
• Experience in writing scientific documents or reports for publication.
• Experience in preparing and delivering presentations to different audiences.

*In the context of student recruitment in the federal public service, experience can be acquired through studies, work experience or volunteer activities.*

Asset Qualifications:

Experience:
• Experience in planning and conducting social science research projects in collaboration with partners.
• Experience in planning and conducting research with Indigenous communities.
• Experience in analyzing and interpreting qualitative data.

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of theories and literature related to the effect of forests on human health.
• Knowledge of softwares to analyze qualitative data such as NVivo, Atlas TI.
