Duties

- Delivery of administrative support services in one or more of the following fields: finance, human resources, office management, information management, executive services, procurement, contracting, research support or program/project management.
- Applies and explains administrative policies, procedures and directives related to one or more fields and verifies that these directives are adhered to.
- Manipulates and inputs data and generates documents, reports, correspondence, records, etc.
- Develops filing systems based on predetermined parameters; updates and maintains files.
- Performs administrative duties such as composing correspondence, developing and maintaining B/F and tracking systems, maintaining agendas, making travel arrangements, reception, preparing routine responses to enquiries, bringing urgent issues to the attention of management, distributing mail, ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies and coordinating logistical activities.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to establish a pool of qualified candidates for future needs. The pool may be used to staff similar positions on a permanent (indeterminate) or temporary basis (specified period or casual employment).

The first application extraction will take place on June 27,2022. The subsequent extractions will take place on a "as and when needed" basis.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. This is a condition employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Interested persons must meet each essential qualification to be appointed to the position; however, a person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs. Meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Please note that assets may be used at the screening stage.

In assessing candidates, assessment boards may use a variety of tools and methods including, but not limited to, reviews of past performance and accomplishments, written tests, interviews, PSC tests and reference checks. As part of this selection process you must provide proof of your education credentials. You will be advised to provide the documents later in the process. This will enable you to provide proof of Canadian equivalency when applying for a job in the public service. Random selection may be used.

A top-down screening approach may be undertaken. Only the top ranking candidates may be invited to the assessment phase of the process.

Please note that for candidates applying from outside the public service, the Department will not reimburse travel expenses linked to the assessment process; however, every reasonable effort will be made to minimize travel costs for candidates who will undergo assessment.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
