Duties

• Evaluate product chemistry and review scientific data supplied for the registration of pest control products.
• Prepare reports on the chemistry of pest control products.
• Act as an expert advisor in chemistry; i.e., provide scientific advice to stakeholders in the registration process and guidance on policies and regulations for pest control products.
• Participate on various committees or working groups for the exchange of scientific knowledge and to discuss issues related to product evaluation.
• Contribute to the development of new protocols, guidelines and methodologies for the chemistry evaluation process.

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience in conducting scientific or regulatory evaluations
Experience in organic synthesis
Experience in analytical method development

Graduation with a Masters, Doctorate degree, or post-graduate diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in chemistry.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience in the review of data submitted by industry for the purpose of pesticide registration

Knowledge:
Knowledge of legislation applied to the federal regulation of pesticides in Canada
Knowledge of the chemistry related to the manufacturing of pesticides and the formation of microcontaminants
Knowledge of Oracle software
