Intent of the process

This process will be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates. The pool may be used to staff similar indeterminate, term or acting positions with various linguistic profiles and/or requirements, various security requirements as well as tenures, which may vary accordingly to the position being staffed.

A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in translation or a related field.

Notes:

1. Based on their education, training and/or experience, indeterminate incumbents of positions in the IS classification are deemed to meet the minimum education standard whenever a bachelor’s degree without specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.

2. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.

Degree equivalency

Recent and significant experience* translating various types of documents from English to French
Recent and significant experience* providing quality control and comparative editing of documents translated from English to French
Experience providing advice to clients on editing and translation services
Experience using language tools and translation memory software

* Recent and significant experience means experience that was core part of the candidate's employment for a period of time that would provide the depth and experience normally obtained in three (3) years within the last 5 years.

Recent and significant experience* in quality control and editing scientific or regulatory documents translated from English to French
Experience editing or translating documents that use terminology related to pesticides

Willingness to work overtime occasionally, sometimes on short notice.
