Canada continues to navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. WHAT TO EXPECT?
As a Program Officer, you will promote and deliver federal, social and labour market funding programs and services that support employers and communities throughout Canada. You will make a difference in the lives of Canadians through these activities:
⯌ Providing information, advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
⯌ Assessing and making recommendations on Grants and Contribution applications, Labour Market Impact Assessments and other employer support programs.
⯌ Interpreting and applying policies, procedures and legislation.
⯌ Negotiating funding proposals and monitoring approved projects and/or agreements.
⯌ Researching and analyzing labour market data for various industries.
⯌ Developing integrated and strategic approaches involving different projects addressing complex situations for the community.
A pool of qualified candidates will be established to staff Program Officer positions.
The pool may be used to staff similar positions within Employment and Social Development Canada, Ontario Region.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR?
EDUCATION:
✏ Secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma (GIT-320); or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience).
The acceptable combination will be evaluated by considering successful completion of two years of secondary school and two years of training and/or work experience in an office setting or client service environment as deemed applicable to the job.
If you are screened into the process and contacted for further assessment, you will be expected to provide proof of education upon request.
If you were educated outside of Canada, you must have your credentials assessed against Canadian education standards (Canadian equivalency).
EXPERIENCE:
✏ Experience in delivering services or programs to the general public involving obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or clarification.
✏ Experience working in a challenging client service environment.
✏ Experience in using technology (e.g. E-mail, Internet or Word Processing)
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
✏ Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
✏ Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Sociology, Economics, Marketing, Social Policy, Public Policy, English or French.

EXPERIENCE:
✏ Experience in collaborating with stakeholders or community partners with a focus on issues related to indigenous people, persons with disabilities, newcomers, seniors, youth, families and workers, employers, and/or vulnerable groups.
✏ Experience in administering grants and contribution programs.
✏ Experience in developing or promoting working level partnerships with employers.
