We are seeking a candidate with expertise in knowledge exchange and outreach related to forestry to join the Canadian Forest Service’s Laurentian forestry centre in Quebec City. The Knowledge Exchange and Indigenous Engagement Officer plans, coordinates and organizes knowledge exchange and outreach activities for the Laurentian Forestry Center to promote the dissemination of research data and information. The successful candidate will use innovative and creative mechanisms to engage with various stakeholders including forestry professionals, academics, Indigenous communities, and organizations as well as the public.

With some 125 employees, including 27 researchers, the LFC is one of the five research centers of the Canadian Forest Service of Natural Resources Canada. The LFC is located on the Université Laval campus in Quebec City, near green spaces, restaurants, and shops. The social life is active and friendly. The Knowledge exchange and Indigenous engagement officer writes science outreach materials, liaises with forestry and Indigenous partners, and conducts knowledge exchange activities as part of a dynamic and engaged team. The position is located in Quebec City. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is currently possible to carry out the tasks by telecommuting. Once the pandemic situation is over, the candidate must be available to perform his/her duties at the office at 1055 rue du P.E.P.S., Quebec City.
A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established from this selection process and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various language requirement, various linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative), different linguistic profiles, various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.

Education:
ED1: Graduation with a bachelor's degree in forestry or wood science from a recognized post-secondary institution; or Graduation with a bachelor's degree in a natural science from a recognized post-secondary institution combined with acceptable experience.
Experience:
EX1: Experience in using knowledge exchange and outreach techniques and mechanisms.
EX2: Experience in writing scientific documents or reports for publication.
EX3: Experience in preparing and delivering presentations.
Asset Qualifications:
AEX1: Experience planning and conducting knowledge exchange activities in relation to field or laboratory-based forest research, or other forest science projects.
AEX2: Experience in collaborating with various forestry stakeholders.
AEX3: Experience in collaborating with Indigenous Peoples.
AEX4: Experience analyzing and interpreting data.
