The successful incumbent will deliver training in both official languages. Training delivery is normally performed at Canadian Forces Fire & Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Academy (CFFCA at Canadian Forces Base Borden) or can be remotely at other National Defense installations as required. Training Officers must abide by National Defense protocols when delivering training and International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) regulations when testing candidates. The Canadian Forces Fire Marshal (CFFM) Training Division staff must ensure course curriculums are updated to the most recent edition of any associated reference material.

🚒Qualifications
- NFPA 1001 - Firefighter Level I & II
- NFPA 1002 - Drive and operate fire apparatus
- NFPA 1003 - Airport Firefighter
- NFPA 1021 - Fire Officer Level I & II
- NFPA 1072 Hazardous Materials/Weapons of Mass Destruction Emergency Response Personnel, 🔹OR🔹 472 - Hazardous materials/weapons of mass destruction (WMD) [HAZMAT IC (Incident Commander)]
- NFPA 1521 - Health and safety officer and a fire department incident safety officer
OR
QL-6a (with a NFPA 1021 Level II) or QL-7 (Military candidates)
🚒EXPERIENCE
Significant experience* as a firefighter with a minimum of three (3) years as a:
- Captain;
- Deputy Fire Chief;
- Fire Instructor from a Training Entity;
- Platoon Chief (military); or
- Deputy Fire Chief (military).
*Significant experience is defined as approximately seven (7) years.
🚒OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Willing and able to travel.
Willing and able to acquire NFPA 1041 Fire instructor level II within 18 months from hire.
Willing and able to obtain and retain a DND 404 operator’s permit.

Reliability Status security clearance
Must possess a Provincial Driver’s license meeting the requirements of a D license (a truck with a gross weight or registered gross weight of more than 11,000 kg (24,000 lbs)).

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring.
