Work environment

Please be advised this process will be used to staff positions in the new department of Indigenous Services Canada. The creation of Indigenous Services Canada is an important development in our renewed relationship with Indigenous peoples. These structural changes will allow our government to work more effectively with Indigenous partners to provide services that improve people’s day-to-day quality of life. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, some employees of Indigenous Services Canada are currently working remotely. The department is actively working on a flexible, phased approach for the safe return of employees to their usual workspaces. Therefore, this opportunity may initially be a remote working opportunity. When it is deemed safe to return to the workplace, the opportunity will be located in an Indigenous Services Canada office.

Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this poster is to fill one (1) position indeterminately in the Saskatchewan Region of Indigenous Services Canada.

A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements, (English or Bilingual Imperative), various security requirements, various conditions of employment as well as various tenures (acting, assignment/secondment, deployment, term and/or indeterminate) in the Saskatchewan Region within Indigenous Services Canada.

Education:
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

(An acceptable a combination would be two years secondary school with training and/or experience relevant to the position OR three years work experience in a related field).

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Recent experience in managing, analysing and processing project plans and reports.
Recent experience in administrative procedures and principles of planning and organizing and accountability.
Recent experience in financial procedures and principles to plan timelines, resources and expenditures, and produce financial forecasts.
Experience in participating in the development and maintenance of management reporting tools.
Experience in conducting research and compiling background material for use in preparation of various correspondence including briefing notes.

Occupational Certification:
Certification as a Real Property Administrator (RPA), Facilities Management Administration (FMA0, Certified Property Management (CPM) or enrollment in one of these or a similar program.

Experience:
Recent experience and training in real property and project management.
Experience in negotiating and managing contracts and/or contribution agreements for capital construction and/or renovation projects and/or property and facility management.
Experience in developing and maintaining external partnerships with Indigenous communities or organizations.
Experience working in remote and isolated Indigenous communities.

Abilities:
Ability to speak an Aboriginal language spoken in Saskatchewan
