Intent of the process

The intent of this appointment process is to establish a fully assessed pool of qualified candidates. The results of this process may be used to staff same or similar positions for future vacancies of various tenures at Public Services and Procurement Canada in the Ontario Region.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of a post-secondary education (University or College) from a recognized institution in Electrical Technology, Electrician Construction/Maintenance or other acceptable diploma/degree Program related to the position.

Degree equivalency

Recent* and significant** experience in managing electrical inspection programs.
Recent* and significant** experience in Conducting inspections and preparing building condition reports for electrical components in commercial property.
Recent* and significant** experience in the operation, maintenance/repair and troubleshooting of various electrical components of systems. (i.e VFD’s, lighting controls, emergency and standby power systems/lighting.).
Recent* experience in the operation, maintenance/repair and troubleshooting of control systems for heating equipment boilers and associated pumps.
Recent* and significant** experience in coordinating and managing building electrical system reviews and safety code inspection and maintenance procedures.
Recent* and significant** experience in providing electrical service expertise to internal and external clients.
Recent* and significant** experience in providing electrical technical advice to clients.

* Recent experience is defined in the last 6 years from the closing date of this Job Posting.
**Significant is defined as the complexity and diversity of work which would normally be acquired over a period of approximately 4 years.

Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).
LEED accreditation, Canada Green Building Council (CGBC).
Master Electrician with the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA).
Certificate of qualification (CFQ).

Knowledge of building condition reporting and facility maintenance practices and procedures for electrical building components.
Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, and guidelines, including the Canadian Electrical Code, National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings (NECB), Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), National Building Code (NBC), and the Ontario Building Code (OBC).
