Measurement Canada
Who we are
As a regulatory agency of the Federal Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, Measurement Canada’s programs and services help to ensure consumers and businesses receive what they pay for as part of daily transactions involving the purchase and sale of food, gasoline, electricity, natural gas and other measured products at retail and commercial levels of trade, nationally. What makes us special?
Trust and certainty in measurement transactions are essential to the stability and prosperity of our economy. Measurement technologies are increasingly at the forefront of a wide variety of ever-expanding trade sectors including the infrastructure for the use of zero emission vehicles and renewable energies and increasingly automated businesses using wireless and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies or traditional sectors from forestry to recycling centres in urban, suburban or remote areas.
Measurement Canada evaluates and approves prototype, cutting edge measurement technologies, tests and certifies measurement technologies, tests and certifies measurement technologies and systems in the marketplace, investigates consumer and business complaints of suspected inaccurate measurement and audit companies recognized to perform inspections. We offer technical guidance and communications outreach to provide clients and Canadians with the information and support they need to make informed choices and help us ensure continued measurement accuracy in the marketplace.
We are dedicated to creating a workplace culture that promotes innovation, continuous learning, flexibility, agility, transparency, collaboration and outstanding performance.
