This position consists of completing repairs and maintenance on Canadian Coast Guard facilities across the Atlantic Region. This requires travelling to remote sites by Helicopter, snowmobile, and ATV.
The selection process will be used to staff positions within the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) Atlantic Region in St. John’s, NL; Dartmouth, NS; Saint John, NB; and Charlottetown, PEI. A pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to staff this position, similar positions, or lower level positions on a temporary or permanent basis.

Possession of a valid Inter-Provincial Journeyperson or Red Seal Carpenter Certificate.
Experience in refurbishment and construction of buildings and structures
Experience in performing preventive maintenance inspections
Experience in building concrete forms, and placing and finishing concrete.
Experience in the installation of building exterior protective materials.
Valid fall protection certificate or rope access certification
Valid Marine Radio Operator’s License
WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate
Valid first aid certificate
Experience with the use of helicopters for transportation, construction activities, and logistic support
Experience in assisting other construction trades
Experience in field/remote site operations
English essential
Information on language requirements
Knowledge of safety practices and procedures that apply at a work site.
Knowledge of construction materials and techniques related to carpentry.
Knowledge of maintenance and operation of portable and stationary power tools
Knowledge of employee’s rights and responsibilities under Canada Labour Code Part II.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
